FACTS

In most cases, asphalt is cheaper than concrete.

Asphalt should be maintained to get long life.

Asphalt is easier and cheaper to fix than concrete.

Not all broken asphalt needs to be removed to fix. Some can be overlaid. 

Asphalt is only as strong as what it is laid on. If there is a sinkhole in asphalt, the ground under it sank. Asphalt conforms to what it is laid on.

Most over lays on existing asphalt are 1.5" to 2" compacted.

Cold mix is more expensive than hot mix asphalt and cold mix is only for temporary repairs. Hot mix is for permanent repairs.

You need to wait at least 90 days for asphalt to cure.

We have all heard someone say, “We have a truck load of asphalt left.” (FALSE) A dump truck load of asphalt costs approx $1000.00 to $1400.00. These are people are trying to take advantage of you!

Seal coat will not fix broke up areas. People will try to tell you that you can seal coat freshly laid driveways or parking lots. (FALSE)

Asphalt is as strong as concrete. (FALSE)

You can pour concrete over broken concrete. (FALSE)
The cracks will reflect through the new concrete not long after it set.
